About the Artist

Laura Fabbri is a Canadian artist based in St. Catharines, Ontario and she attained a BFA  Fine Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2013.  She has been creating art since she was able to hold a pencil and she has turned her passion into a profession as an abstract, expressionistic painter.

Ever since attending UWO, Fabbri has been fascinated by exhibiting the fundamental elements of colour, tone, undertone, light and texture through distortions and reflections. Her inspiration is rooted through the notion; learning to draw is learning to see. She bases her work on the assumption that when one looks beyond which they are accustomed to seeing, they are able to visualize how surrounding variables affect all details of an object. In turn, this object will appear to have depth and structure. This premise is expressed through her artwork in an abstracted way.

Fabbris' works consist of an array of colours, shades, and compositions which vastly differentiate from one project to the next. As spontaneous as her pieces may appear, each brush stroke and impression is placed deliberately to correspond with its surroundings. Her work begins as a vision of a colour palette with a hypothetical light source and it evolves into a manipulation of contrasting tones and textures which leaves the viewer with a balanced feeling between chaos and harmony.

Many of Fabbri's works can be seen in Jack Astor's restaurant franchise locations across Ontario.
